Make Room for a Wider View

Panoramic Canvas Prints from Your Own Photos

Give a coastline, mountain range, city skyline or group photograph a long, continuous place on your wall. Choose a panoramic canvas in a 2:1 or 3:1 shape, then use Upload Photos & Design on the product page to edit your photo, add text and preview the composition before ordering.

Choose the Panoramic Shape Before the Print Length

Two panoramic canvases can be equally wide and still show a different amount of the scene. Start with the balance between width and height, then choose the physical size.

Current panoramic size options
Landscape shape Sizes: short side × long side Composition to consider
2:1 — twice as wide as high 25 × 50 cm · 40 × 80 cm
50 × 100 cm · 60 × 120 cm
65 × 130 cm · 70 × 140 cm
A wide composition with more height for sky, foreground, buildings or standing figures.
3:1 — three times as wide as high 20 × 60 cm · 30 × 90 cm
40 × 120 cm · 50 × 150 cm
A longer, shallower view suited to a horizon, skyline or a composition concentrated across the middle.

All dimensions are in centimetres. The size names above use the shorter side first. For a horizontal 40 × 120 cm canvas, the displayed width is 120 cm and the height is 40 cm. Portrait orientation is also available on the product.

Choose the size and orientation on the Panoramic Canvas Prints product page to see the current NZD price. If even the 2:1 crop removes too much of your subject, compare rectangle canvas prints before placing the order.

See What a Wider Crop Keeps — and Leaves Out

A standard horizontal photo may need less sky and foreground to fill a panoramic front face. Move the image in the editor to decide whether the emphasis belongs higher or lower in the scene.

Fitting the photo to 2:1

Original photo: 6000 × 4000 pixels
2:1 front crop
6000 × 3000 pixels

Pink areas are removed in this centred example.

The front crop keeps 75% of the original height. In this centred example, 500 pixels are removed from the top and 500 from the bottom.

Fitting the photo to 3:1

Original photo: 6000 × 4000 pixels
3:1 front crop
6000 × 2000 pixels

Pink areas are removed in this centred example.

The front crop keeps half of the original height. In this centred example, 1000 pixels are removed from the top and 1000 from the bottom.

An extra-wide panorama can crop at the ends instead. For example, fitting a 12000 × 3000 pixel image to a 3:1 front face keeps 9000 × 3000 pixels. A centred crop removes 1500 pixels from each end. The word “panoramic” does not guarantee that the whole file fits every panoramic size.

These examples describe a front-face crop with no extra zoom, before any side-wrap allowance. Matching photo and canvas proportions helps preserve the composition; review the preview again after changing size, orientation or wrap.

Check a Wide Image from End to End

A panoramic file can look impressive as a small thumbnail while hiding problems in one part of the scene. Open the original and inspect it at a useful enlargement before choosing a large print.

Phone panoramas and stitched images

Use the original saved panorama rather than a screenshot. Check joins, repeated or broken details, horizon lines and moving subjects. Look across the whole file, not only the centre.

Coastlines, mountains and city views

Check that the crop retains the landmarks you care about. Inspect fine detail at both ends and confirm that buildings and the horizon look the way you want them to appear in the print.

Family groups, teams and events

Check every person’s face and the space above heads and below hands. A very shallow crop may suit people seated in a row but remove too much from a full-length group photograph.

File quality follows the chosen crop: detail depends on the remaining pixels, print size and sharpness of the source image. Send us your original file and proposed dimensions if you would like advice. A good-looking layout preview is not a guarantee of fine-detail sharpness.

Measure the Height Above the Sofa or Bed Too

Width alone does not tell you whether a panoramic canvas will fit the available wall. Compare these two actual options at the same 120 cm displayed width.

2:1 — the taller wide format

120 cm wide × 60 cm high

A 60 × 120 cm canvas needs 60 cm of clear wall height. Consider it when the scene benefits from more vertical space.

3:1 — the shallower wide format

120 cm wide × 40 cm high

A 40 × 120 cm canvas needs 40 cm of clear wall height. It can suit a long composition where vertical clearance is more limited.

Mark the complete outline with removable paper or tape, then look from the place where you normally sit or stand. Allow for lamps, shelves, switches and space around the furniture. If you choose an outer floating frame, confirm its overall dimensions as well.

Preview the Scene, the Edges and Your Personal Touches

Select the product size and orientation, then click Upload Photos & Design. Reposition the image, personalise it with text if you wish, and use the available previews before adding the design to your cart.

Review the front image

  • Keep the intended horizon and main landmark in view.
  • Check heads, hands and details near the top, bottom and both ends.
  • Keep names or a message inside the front face, away from fold lines.
  • Check spelling and make sure text stands out against the image.

Choose the side finish

Gallery Wrap continues the image around the sides. Mirror Wrap uses reflected edge detail, while Color Wrap uses solid-colour sides. Check the choices available on your product and see the canvas wrap guide for examples.

Mirror or solid-colour sides can help preserve the front image area. They do not remove cropping caused by a mismatch between the photo and the panoramic front proportions.

Your design is printed onto canvas and stretched over an inner timber frame, ready to hang. A panoramic print keeps the scene on one continuous canvas; it is not a split-panel set. For a decorative outer frame, explore floating frame canvas prints.

Panoramic Canvas Prints FAQ

Help with wide-format photos, proportions, orientation and ordering.

Does my photo have to be taken in panorama mode?

No. A normal horizontal photo can work if it has enough room for the wider crop and sufficient detail at the chosen size. Preview it in both proportions before deciding.

Should I choose a 2:1 or 3:1 panoramic canvas?

Start with the photo. A 2:1 canvas gives more relative height; 3:1 creates a longer, shallower view. Check whether the crop keeps the sky, foreground, people and landmarks that matter to you.

Will my entire phone panorama fit without cropping?

Not necessarily. Phone panoramas can have different proportions. An image wider than the chosen canvas may lose content from its ends; a less-wide image may lose content from the top and bottom. Reposition it and review the front preview.

Can I order a tall panoramic canvas?

Yes. The product offers Portrait and Landscape orientation. Choose the orientation that matches your image and wall, then confirm the width, height and crop in the preview before ordering.

Can you help with a photo that is too long for the listed sizes?

Yes. Send us the original image and your preferred dimensions. We can review the composition and confirm whether another size is possible before you order.

Is this one canvas or a set of separate panels?

The panoramic product is a single stretched canvas per configured item. The image is continuous across that canvas. Split-panel displays introduce separate pieces and gaps and are not included in this product.

What should I allow for delivery in New Zealand?

NZ delivery is NZ$9.95 per order. Many canvas orders arrive around 5–7 working days from full payment, with timing affected by product, location, workload and courier conditions. Contact us before ordering if the print is needed for a particular date.
