Description
Your Favourite Photo, Finished with a Floating Frame
Create a Floating Frame Canvas from your own photo or artwork. Your image is printed on canvas, stretched and fitted inside an outer frame, with a visible gap that gives the canvas its floating appearance. Choose a size and finish, upload your image and preview the composition before ordering.
Canvas printing, stretching and a fitted floating frame are included.
Select your options above, then click Upload Photos & Design to begin.
One Complete Framed Canvas, Made from Your Image
Floating frame canvas prints combine a stretched canvas with a separate decorative outer frame. The gap outlines the canvas without overlapping its front surface.
Your Image Printed on Canvas
Turn a family portrait, wedding photograph, pet photo, landscape or artwork file into a personal piece for your home.
Canvas Stretched and Fitted
The printed canvas is stretched over its supporting frame and fitted inside the outer floating frame.
A Defined Edge Around the Artwork
The visible space between canvas and frame creates the floating effect and gives the piece a distinct outline.
Your selected product price covers the complete framed canvas. The product options show the price for your chosen configuration; delivery is displayed at checkout.
Choose the Size and Finish Around Your Photo
Start with the Photo’s Proportions
A shape close to the original image helps preserve the composition. Select from the available size options and check the crop, especially when changing a rectangular photograph to a square.
For a custom size, send us your image and preferred dimensions in cm before ordering.
Allow for the Finished Outer Frame
Canvas size describes the image-bearing stretched canvas. Overall framed size describes the outside edge of the finished piece. The gap and outer frame add to the wall space it occupies.
For a recess, narrow wall or coordinated display, ask us to confirm the finished outer dimensions before ordering.
Understand the Frame Colour and Material
Choose a finish from the available product options that works with your image and surroundings. A colour name such as natural wood or oak can describe the appearance. If you require a specific frame material, confirm the frame material before ordering.

Is Your Photo Suitable for the Size You Want?
Print clarity depends on the detail in the original file, the amount of cropping and the enlargement. A preview helps you judge the layout; the original image still needs enough detail for the intended print size.
Upload the Best Original File
Use the original from your camera, phone or computer whenever possible. Screenshots and compressed social-media copies may contain less detail.
Cropping tightly uses a smaller part of the original image, which can limit how large it can be printed clearly.
Your Image Is Reviewed Before Printing
The editor does not automatically assess image quality. Our team manually reviews your image before printing.
For advice before ordering, send your original file and preferred print size to support@customcanvas.co.nz. Our designer can check suitability.
Check the Front Image and the Canvas Edges
Keep Important Details on the Front
The floating frame sits around the canvas and does not cover its front surface. The chosen print ratio can still crop the original photograph.
Review people, lettering, logos and objects near the edges. Leave enough surrounding space when those details need to remain fully visible.
Consider How the Sides Are Finished
Canvas side wrap describes the finish around the depth of the stretched canvas. The wrap can affect how the image is presented on the front and sides.
Review any available wrap setting with your design. Leave space around important edge details and review the composition before ordering.
Colours can vary between the online preview and the finished print because screens and printed materials reproduce colour differently.

Floating Frame Canvas FAQs
Practical answers about what is included, uploading your photo, checking image quality, sizing and NZ delivery.
Does the price include printing and the floating frame?
Yes. This product includes your image printed on canvas, canvas stretching and the fitted outer floating frame. Your selected options determine the product price. Delivery is shown separately at checkout.
Can I upload and preview my photo before ordering?
Yes. Click Upload Photos & Design in the product options to upload your image, adjust the crop and preview the composition. Check the size, finish and design before completing your order.
Will the editor warn me if my photo quality is poor?
The system does not automatically detect image quality or provide an automatic low-resolution warning. Our team manually reviews image quality before printing. For advice before ordering, email your original image and intended print size to support@customcanvas.co.nz.
Can you check my image before I place an order?
Yes. Send the original file and your preferred size in cm to support@customcanvas.co.nz. Our designer can assess whether the image is suitable for the size you have in mind.
Will the floating frame cover my photo?
The floating frame surrounds the stretched canvas without overlapping its front surface. The print proportions, cropping and canvas side wrap can still affect how much of the original image appears on the front. Keep important details inside the visible front area.
Does a wood-look finish mean the frame is real wood?
A wood-look colour describes appearance rather than material. Polymer with a wood-look finish and real wood have different constructions. The material specification describes the construction; the colour name describes its appearance.
Does the outer frame add to the canvas dimensions?
Yes. The floating gap and outer frame add to the finished wall footprint. Canvas size and overall framed size are different measurements. For a specific wall space, contact us to confirm the finished outer dimensions before ordering.
Can I request a custom size?
If your required size is not listed, contact us for a custom size quote. Include the preferred dimensions, your image and any wall-space restrictions. We will confirm what is available before you order.
Will I need to fit the canvas inside the frame?
Your canvas is supplied printed, stretched and already fitted inside its floating frame. For wall installation, use fixings suited to your wall type and the weight of the finished artwork.
Do you deliver throughout New Zealand?
Yes. Standard domestic delivery is NZ$9.95 per order, with the delivery charge displayed at checkout. If you need your artwork for a particular date, contact us before ordering to discuss the expected timing.
Can I buy a frame for a canvas I already own?
Yes. Visit our floating frames for existing canvases. Provide the exact width, height and depth of your existing stretched canvas when choosing a frame.
